Rainbows

Rainbows are the pre-Brownies group. Girls aged 5 to 7 years old (school years R,1,2). They do crafts and play games and get a gentle introduction to Guiding.

Brownies.

Brownies is for the slightly older girls, ages 7 to 10 (school years 2,3,4,5). They play games and do crafts and are introduced more to Guiding. This gives them an opportunity to to do more interesting things such as going on a pack holiday and taking part in Guiding events, usually with brownies from other Packs. They also have the opportunity to do Badge work which will introduce them to new skills and interests.

Girls' Association.

Girls' Association is a new venture and is for the older girls, ages 10 to 16 (school years 5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11). It used to be a Guides unit but has changed as this brings it more into line with the Boys' Brigade company. The girls meet on the same night as the Company Section of the Boy's Brigade. Sometimes they share activities with the Boys' Brigade and sometimes they do separate activities. They do Badge work, learn life skills and have fun. Girls go to camp at the end of August, each year, with the Company Section, boys from another BB company and Girls from a Girls Brigade company in all about 70 people.

Anchor Boys.

Anchor Boys, known as Anchors is the group for the younger boys, ages 5 to 8 (school years 1,2,3). The aim is to have fun. They meet for just over 1 hour playing games and doing crafts.

Juniors.

Junior BB is the group for the slightly older boys, ages 8 to 11 (school years 4,5,6). The aim is to have fun. They meet for just over 1 hour playing games and doing crafts.

Company Section.

Company Section is the group for the older boys, ages 11 to 16 (school years 7,8,9,10 and 11). Boys do Badge work aiming for the highest awards which are the Presidents Badge and the Queens Badge, several of our boys have acheived this. They play sports and enter competitions with other BB units in Birmingham and nationally. Company Section boys go to camp at the end of August, each year, with the Guides, boys from another BB company and Girls from a Girls Association company in all about 70 people. In the summer, where possible, they spend their their BB night at the local park along with the Girls Association. Sometimes they go swimming, ten-pin bowling or ice-skating.

2009 Camp was at Bembridge, Isle of Wight. After last year's washout, storms etc. this year was a welcome break. Though not as sunny as usual it was mainly dry and as ever they all enjoyed it. Thanks to the leaders for organising the annual camp.
